Thioamides easily react under very mild conditions with some conjugated azoalkenes in one pot to give in good yield substituted 2-thiazolin-4-ones 3a-p that frequently exhibit hydrazono-hydrazino tautomerism in the chain at position 5 of the ring. The methylated derivative 3q was studied by X-ray diffraction in order to assign unequivocally the molecular structure.
